  Puffball \Puff"ball`\, n. (Bot.)
     A kind of ball-shaped fungus (Lycoperdon giganteum, and
     other species of the same genus) full of dustlike spores when
     ripe; -- called also bullfist, bullfice, puckfist,
     puff, and puffin.
