     (a) A gigantic coniferous tree (Sequoia sempervirens) of
         California, and its light and durable reddish timber. See
         Sequoia.
     (b) An East Indian dyewood, obtained from Pterocarpus   santalinus
         , Caesalpinia Sappan, and several other
         trees.
