white + poy`s, podo`s, a foot: cf. F. phalarope.] (Zool.)
Any species of Phalaropus and allied genera of small wading
birds (Grall[ae]), having lobate toes. They are often seen
far from land, swimming in large flocks. Called also sea goose
.
