     papegaut; cf. Pr. papagai, Sp. & Pg. papagayo, It.
     pappagallo, LGr. ?, NGr. ?; in which the first syllables are
     perhaps imitative of the bird's chatter, and the last either
     fr. L. gallus cock, or the same word as E. jay, F. geai. Cf.
     Papagay.]
