        (a) A European bulbous liliaceous plant (Urginea  maritima
            , formerly Scilla maritima), of acrid,
            expectorant, diuretic, and emetic properties, used in
            medicine. Called also sea onion.
        (b) Any bulbous plant of the genus Scilla; as, the
            bluebell squill (Scilla mutans).
