  Stannic \Stan"nic\ (-n[i^]k), a. [L. stannum tin: cf. F.
     stannique.] (Chem.)
     Of or pertaining to tin; derived from or containing tin;
     specifically, designating those compounds in which the
     element has a higher valence as contrasted with stannous
     compounds.
