  Vibrissa \Vi*bris"sa\, n.; pl. Vibrissae. [L. vibrissae, pl.,
     the hairs in the nostrils of man, fr. vibrare to vibrate; --
     so called because touching them tickles a person, and causes
     him to shake his head.]
